Page Turner Book-To-Screen Adaptation Competition

Great Stories Deserve Screen

The Page Turner Books Adaptation Competition discovers exceptional books, short fiction, and graphic novels with the potential to become feature films, television series, limited series, or other screen-based entertainment.

Many compelling stories never reach producers, managers, agents, or development executives because the writers behind them do not have direct access to the entertainment industry. This competition is designed to help bridge that gap.

Backed by nearly a decade of experience through Page Turner Scripts, Page Turner Books brings the same commitment, personal service, and industry-focused approach to authors seeking adaptation opportunities for their work.

What We Are Looking For:

We are seeking original stories with strong characters, distinctive worlds, clear emotional stakes, and the potential to engage audiences beyond the page.

More Than a Contest:

Page Turner Books is committed to doing more than selecting winners.

Standout projects may receive:

Introductions to producers, managers, agents, executives, and other entertainment professionals
Strategic circulation to companies seeking books and intellectual property for adaptation
Guidance on positioning the project for film and television
Support developing submission materials, including loglines, synopses, pitch materials, and adaptation strategies
Long-term promotion and career support from the Page Turner Books and Page Turner Scripts teams

Selected writers may also receive guidance on whether their project is best suited for a feature film, television series, limited series, animation, or another format.

How the Competition Works:

Submissions are evaluated first as written works and then for their potential as film or television adaptations.

Our readers and industry team consider:

Strength and originality of the central concept
Quality of the characters and relationships
Emotional and dramatic stakes
Visual storytelling potential
Strength of the world and setting
Audience and commercial potential
Suitability for film, television, or limited-series adaptation
Opportunities to expand the story into a larger franchise or intellectual property

Writers do not need to submit a screenplay. The competition is focused on identifying written material that could successfully make the transition from page to screen.

Who Should Enter:

The competition is designed for both emerging and established writers.

It may be a strong fit for authors who:

Believe their story could become a film or television series
Want to introduce their work to producers and entertainment representatives
Are seeking greater exposure for an unpublished manuscript
Have published a book but retained or control the adaptation rights
Want professional guidance on presenting their intellectual property to the entertainment industry
Have a strong concept but have not written a screenplay adaptation

No previous film or television experience is required.

Adaptation Rights:

Writers retain ownership of their work and adaptation rights.

Submitting to the competition does not transfer ownership or grant Page Turner Books the right to produce, publish, sell, or adapt a project. Any future representation, option, purchase, publishing, or development agreement would be discussed separately and entered into only with the writer’s approval.

Entrants must own or control the rights necessary to submit the material.

Our Commitment:

As Page Turner Scripts approaches its 10th anniversary, Page Turner Books is extending the same hands-on service, industry access, and long-term commitment to authors of fiction, short fiction, and graphic novels.

Our goal is not simply to recognize excellent writing. It is to identify stories with genuine adaptation potential and help their creators take the next step toward publishing, representation, film, television, and long-term career growth.

Your story begins on the page. We help position it for the screen.
